Stileconcitato– Symbols of Passion

Stileconcitato: Baroque style developed by Monteverdi, which introduced novel effects such as rapid repeated notes as symbols of passion.

When I was in the fourth grade, we had this “orchestra petting zoo” where I and the other students, were introduced to the wonderful wide world of string instruments. Violin, cello, bass, viola… they were all so fascinating. For something that was once a tree to make such a beautiful sound by simply pulling a set of horsehairs across its strings was amazing! So naturally, I picked the most trendy and seemingly easy-to-use, and tried to enhance my skill and talent in classical music.

I fell out of love with my violin a few years later. I think it was all that damn Canon in D…or was it Hot Cross Buns? Either way, I never mastered my instrument like my other classmates , who were quickly becoming child prodigies.

Present day:
Los Angeles, California. A place, to the average person, looks as if it had been consumed by materialism, fakeness, and an uber abundance in really bad pop culture… not to mention, nauseatingly bland pop music. To me, anything with strings and a bow were obsolete compared to the hip stylings of the electric guitar and the occasional synthesizer. I mean, who wants to bother with all that rosin, anyway? I digress. But recently, I met an insightful and quite talented young man who has shown me that love and skill for a wooden instrument still exists.

And he is practicing ever so diligently right next to me.

At four in the morning.

It is nice to see that even though I traded my passion for another, others have found it to be captivating enough to just live for it.

To live life through passion, makes life not only exciting and joyous, but it gives you the energy to experience life to its greatest fulfillment.

Ambition Ammunition

No matter where you are in life, you are capable to achieve anything with the right mindset and way of thinking. The most extraordinary, the most extreme, the most far-fetched ideas can manifest themselves…

In the last few years of my life, I’ve traveled all over the country, visited family in the Philippines, frolicked on the most secluded beaches, shopped at the most fashionable retailers, eaten delicious food from all over the world, moved to three different states, attended various schools and made many wonderful friends in the process, landed a job as a personal assistant to a movie director, planned and supervised my first ever movie premiere for an audience of 200+, and organized a charity benefit dinner for the HALO Foundation…

Did I mention I’m only seventeen?

Education and formal training can only get you so far in life. Your success is only secured by your drive and the will to achieve whatever it is you want the most. Don’t let the many factors in life stand in your way.

Be everything. Do anything.
